Joy, after her first 5K run (about Y2K)

You’d smile too if you had just completed your first 5-K run while still wearing the bandage on your elbow from melanoma surgery. My godly sweetheart is a “fighter.” When the physicians told her she had a dangerously-advanced melanoma cancer, she refused their Interferon treatments (which were of little value for this type of cancer), and instead relied on God, on the love of her family and friends, plus a careful diet, and exercise. As a result of God’s love, she received a miraculous healing.

Just a few days after her surgery, Joy ran this first 5-K fun run in Encinitas, California. Then, just a month or so after that, she ran the entire San Diego Marathon, 26.2 miles, coming in 5th among the women in her age group.

Even today, on the senior side of sixty, she can do 100 pushups. And she’s still teaching English every day to troubled high school students, while responding each evening to e-mail inquiries from people all over the world who want to learn more about salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

What husband wouldn’t be honored (and challenged) to be married to this woman?
